Rooted in liberation. Grounded in truth. Guided by art.

B L A C is a space where creativity meets cultural integrity; where art becomes both reflection and revolution.

Founded by a Black artist navigating the intersections of identity, faith, and creativity, B L A C was born from spirit and necessity — a call to create space where Black artists could exist freely, tell their stories truthfully, and be celebrated fully.

What began as a personal act of reclamation has grown into a collective movement that nurtures visibility, confidence, and creative sustainability. Through exhibitions, collaborations, and coaching experiences, we connect artists, thinkers, and dreamers who are reimagining what it means to live and create freely.

We believe Black history is the foundation of innovation, a lineage of resilience, imagination, and boundless creation. At our core, B L A C is about relationships: between self and story, artist and community, culture and consciousness.

At our core, B L A C is about the relationship between self and story, artist and community, culture and consciousness. We amplify the voices of Black artists across disciplines and invite all who align with the values of truth, liberation, and creative growth to join us in expanding what’s possible.

Together, we celebrate art as both reflection and resistance — a practice of remembering who we are and a declaration of who we’re becoming.

“So-Called Buffalo” Series

 Oil, 36”x24” $2,000

This evocative piece from the “So-Called Buffalo” Series speaks to the journeys we undertake in life. This buffalo is crossing a bridge, symbolizing strength and resilience. Beneath the bridge, Native Americans paddle a canoe, rowing against the tide—a poignant reminder of perseverance through adversity.

On the buffalo’s path lies a single black pea, a subtle yet powerful nod to the Underground Railroad. Harriet Tubman would leave black peas at forks in the road, guiding those seeking freedom toward the right path. This intricate composition invites viewers to reflect on life's journey's interconnected struggles and triumphs.

“Three Trees”

 Oil, 25

¼”x24” $1,500

"Three Trees" is a painting that feels more like a vision coming through the artist rather than solely from them. At its core, it presents three trees—one of which is cut, symbolizing a life cut short. This element reflects the universal experience of loss, reminding us of the people we have loved and lost.

Crows, a recurring motif in the artist’s work, bring a sense of motion and boldness. For the artist, they represent the resilience and movement of the diaspora. The striking red trees serve as a tribute to Richard Mayhew, the renowned painter known for his unconventional use of color in landscapes. Mayhew, who passed away at the age of 100, left an indelible mark on the art world. Through this piece, his legacy lives on.

“Bonding”

 Oil, 12”x16” $1,200

Bonding is inspired by a ceramic piece the artist encountered, reimagined through a new lens. Originally depicting two small children, the artist transforms them into young adults of the African diaspora, deepening the emotional resonance of the scene. The moment is intimate—his hands gently cradle hers as she offers him a drink from a shared vessel, symbolizing trust, care, and connection.

A signature element of the artist’s work is the thoughtful use of color. In Bonding, a rich and carefully balanced palette brings warmth and depth, reinforcing the emotional tone of the piece. The artist’s passion for color science shines through, creating harmony between bold hues and delicate details.

Embedded within the painting is the Gye Nyame symbol, which appears in all of the artist’s works as a personal signature. A revered Adinkra symbol from Ghana, Gye Nyame translates to "Except for God" and represents the supremacy and omnipotence of a higher power. Its presence in the painting serves as both a spiritual affirmation and a mark of artistic identity.

“

A Clear Day”

 Oil, 20

½” x 26½” $1,500

"A Clear Day" is a painting born from imagination, bringing visions from the artist’s mind to the surface for others to experience. Like much of the artist’s recent work, this piece transcends literal representation, offering a dreamlike landscape that invites curiosity and wonder.

Inspired by Richard Mayhew’s masterful and unconventional use of color, the artist employs a bold palette that reimagines the natural world in unexpected ways. The presence of both the Moon and the Earth within the atmosphere adds to the mystery, prompting viewers to question their perspective—where exactly are they in this scene? As the final painting of 2024, A Clear Day marks the culmination of a year’s creative exploration, leaving an open-ended invitation for reflection and interpretation.

Carefree

Oil, 36”x36” $3,000

"Carefree" is a heartfelt reflection on the innocence and boundless joy of childhood. This piece captures the essence of freedom that every child deserves—a stark contrast to the harsh realities often faced by young boys growing up in urban America.

The artwork serves as both a nostalgic look back at the artist’s own childhood and a poignant commentary on the disparities in environments that shape our youth. Through vibrant imagery, "Carefree" becomes a celebration of possibility, resilience, and the universal longing for a carefree existence.
